Redscape

The Story tells about a tomato destined to be eaten and the escape of the red entity from the hungry hands of its owner, hopefully.

Visuals

Creation

It was a student assignment in the 2. semester: create a stopmotion movie with food.

Redscape was what I and three fellow students came up with. My part was the initial idea, the storyboard and the camera operation.

Cheatking: durak app

This is an App for Android and iOS that lets you play the Durak card game on your phone against one or multiple AIs.

Visuals

Creation

Rendering and animation of the playing cards as well as the layout and interaction with them were my primary tasks on this work.

Three fellow students and I developed the concept of a card playing platform that allows you to play every card game imaginable.

The prototype, that this work represents, shows the implementation by example of the card game Durak.

Scholar Breeding

In this game you get to build your own university, make the students happy and keep the financial numbers from turning red.

Happy scholars benefit everyone, don't they?

Visuals

Creation

This tycoon type of game was inspired by the construction site of our own college.

Display and interaction with the gameworld with its tiled ground and placed buildings were my major tasks on this project.

Sketchbook

Some drawings from my sketchbook.

Visuals

Creation

Pencil, paper and pigment liner.

Drone parking system concept

To fill a car park efficiently and tidly packed we simulated a drone, which is guiding cars to their designated parking space.

Visuals

Creation

Together with four fellow students this simulation was realized in Unity3D.

My part was the simulation of the drone flight along a given path as well as the base model of the park.

Printed Head

This piece evolved from a 3D Printing seminar.

Visuals

Creation

The head was created and painted in ZBrush

Charc dust is spread in layers and gets injected with color at those places where the model is. It works quite like an inkjet printer at home.

Spring loaded sound visualization

The idea behind this visualization is a living ruberband, that loves music.

It bends and stretches according to the music and moves as if it is dancing.

Visuals

Creation

It originates from a soft body simulation in Adobe Flash I did. Now ported to javascript as Flash won't be around for sure.

The band is made up of little interconnected springs that get a hit as the music plays.

Leonhart football table

A football table from Leonhart. It is quite a pleasure to play on the physical counterpart.

Visuals

Creation

The table itself is modelled and textured with Renderman shaders in Maya. Zbrush brought the playball and the figures into existence. The whole Scene is rendered with Renderman litt by an environmentmap.

It was the final work in the 6. semester.

Kite: puzzle game

This is a puzzle game with two simple rules:
1. An edge has to align to another edge
2. An corner has to touch another corner

You have kite shaped different sized pieces at your disposal. The goal is to rebuild a shape by its silhouette.

Visuals

Creation

This work is based on an original idea I had and created together with two fellow students.

The puzzle engine behind the system was my major task while helping out here and there.

Vector Works

Some vector character designs and a poster promoting an imaginable online shop for ceiling lamps.

Visuals

Creation

The characters were forged in affinity designer and the poster in Adobe Illustrator.

Virtual Tabletop

The benefit of a virtual tabletop is the checkability of rules by the neutral computer observing the game and the infinite amaount of figures a marker can act as.

Visuals

Creation

We build a table and screwed a webcam on a rig above it. Little markers act as the figures involved. The development of an algorithm to track the position and orientation of those markers were my main tasks on this project.

TellTale corporate design study

Decisions are the basis on which TellTale Games builds its games. To reflect the way one navigates through the story and the consequences that follow, we based our design up on a network structure.

The Logo becomes a fundamental part of the decision making process, showing the countdown and what you decide.

Visuals

Creation

This design was developed in tight cooperation with a fellow student. The goal was to redesign and improve an existing game developer brand.

I designed the Logo and made a font from it as well as animations of the Logo itself and the concept behind the Fargo spot.
